This is our recently revised Deluxe ATR kit.  It has been revised to remove the back slope so more batteries and controls can be installed.  It is an extremely rugged well built robot.  It was originally designed as a water tight robot to go into mines.  The robot is entirely enclosed and can be used in all weather conditions.  The wheels are axle mounted and supported using two sealed ball bearings.   Each of the four axles are driven by a large and powerful IG42 Gear motor via a roller chain to yield a very smooth and slip free mode of operation.  This robot is designed for loads greater than 20lbs.  For loads greater than 35lbs you need to go with lower gear ratio motors and pneumatic tires. The biggest issue with weight is pivot turns on carpet and grass takes a great deal of torque to skid steer. See our ATR page for more details.

The ends of the shafts are exposed on the inside if you wish to mount encoders to them.  Or you can select gear motors with encoders on them.  There are side access panels that allow easy assembly of the motor and chains and adjustment of the chain tension. 

The motors and transmission allow this robot to climb walls.   Two different wheel and shaft options are available with this robot. Heavy duty shaft and 6" pneumatic wheel Set or the larger heavy duty shaft and 10" pneumatic wheel set. For figuring out the speed of the robot use the motor RPM, the wheel diameter and account for a 10:15 chain reduction motor to wheel shaft.

The chassis is ~14.5" wide x ~18.25" long x ~5" tall. The chassis frame is made of 1/8" thick aircraft grade aluminum.   With the 6" pneumatic tires the the roboot measures (wheel edge to edge) ~19.25" wide x ~19.75 long with ~2" ground clearance. With the 10 inch pneumatic tires the robot measures 22.5" wide x 23.75" long with ~4" ground clearance.  For more details about the chassis follow this link.
