The SuperDroid Trekker

SuperDroid Trekker is a small robot driven by modified servos and can be assembled using basic tools. The SuperDroid Trekker is an aluminum robot chassis fitted with modified servos and has two follower/caster wheels. The aluminum is precision cut and formed to make a very precise chassis. The aluminum frame is designed to house many different configurations as additional accessories are added to enhance the robot building experience. The SuperDroid Trekker is intended to allow child from 8-88 years of age to learn the basics of programmable autonomous robot control. Only basic computer skills are needed to get you started! The Trekker is a great educational product that teaches reasoning, logic, computer programming, and much more using a real robot! The programs are provided, but can be altered, modified, expanded, etc to allow maximum flexibility and creativity.
The backbone of the programmable autonomous robot is the brain (i.e. MCU – Micro Controller Unit). The SuperDroid Trekker is sold with an optional OOPic II/II+ or OOPic-R MCU. The OOPic can be programmed with basic, C or Java from your PC. The Trekker also has mounting holes for the Basic Stamp II Board of Education. The OOPic MCU has the advantage of being an object oriented PIC which allows multitasking, i.e. the drive motors can be told to operate in a particular manner, and then the program can continue doing other tasks as the motors operate in the background.
