Description:

The InvenSense MPU-6050 sensor contains an accelerometer and a gyroscope in a single chip. It is very accurate, this sensor is used in self balancing robots, drones, smartphones, etc. The sensor uses the I2C-bus to interface with microcontroller.

The MPU-6050 devices combine a 3-axis gyroscope and a 3-axis accelerometer on the same chip. The device can access external magnetometers or other sensors through an auxiliary master I²C bus, allowing the devices to gather a full set of sensor data without intervention from the system processor.

Features and Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 0.9″ × 0.83″ × 0.08″ (23 mm × 21 mm × 2 mm)
  • Operating voltage: 3 to 5 V
  • Supply current: 5 mA
  • Output format: (I²C):
    • Gyro: one 16-bit reading per axis
    • Accelerometer: one 16-bit reading per axis
  • Sensitivity range (configurable):
    • Gyro: ±250, ±500, ±1000 or ±2000°/s
    • Accelerometer: ±2, ±4, ±8, or ±16 g

Included Components:

A 1×8 strip of 0.1″ header pins and a 1×8 strip of 0.1″ right-angle header pins are included, as shown in the picture. You can solder the header strip of your choice to the board for use with custom cables or solderless breadboards or solder wires directly to the board itself for more compact installations. The board features two mounting holes that work with #4 or M4 screws (not included).
