This is our Heavy Duty ATR DB Chassis. It is an extremely rugged well built chassis. It is made of 1/8" thick aircraft grade aluminum. The design uses all laser cut parts with mortise and tenon design for precise alignment and mating of the parts. The chassis is completely welding using TIG and MIG. It features chain driven axles, which are mounted with two sealed ball bearings which takes all of the weight off of the motors. Because of this it has the ability to drive and turn with very heavy loads. Look at our Main ATR support page and our DB ATR support page to learn more about the robot's size and capacity.
Each of the four axles are driven by a large and powerful IG42 Gear motor via a roller chain to yield a very smooth and slip free mode of operation. This robot is designed for loads greater than 25lbs. For loads greater than 40lbs you need to go with lower gear ratio motors and pneumatic tires. The biggest issue with weight is pivot turns on carpet and grass takes a great deal of torque to skid steer. See our ATR page for more details.

There are slots in the side panels that allow easy assembly of the motor and chains and adjustment of the chain tension. The motors and transmission allow this robot to climb walls.
