Tactical Robot Operator Control Units (OCU)
There are many different methods to control a robot. This page is a general overview of the most popular methods SuperDroid Robots offers. We currently offer the control methods described below. We specialize in customizing the control packages to meet your needs and budget. Most of these controls are standard on our Tactical Robots, but we do offer custom packages. Wireless control and video monitoring are tricky and several factors can affect them. That includes walls, electrical interference, landscape, other RF interference, and more. We also offer many tethered (wired) options where RF is not possible.
The most basic type of radio is our Analog RC offerings. They tend to be cheaper and quite resilient to line-of-sight issues such as walls, trees, and hills. The downside to using an analog system is the limited data transmission. You have a defined amount of analog channels to send data. They’re also not compatible with repeater/mesh networks and only offer one-way communication. Digital remotes are available in Wi-Fi, Digital, and High Bandwidth Smart Radio. The digital systems can provide two-way communication and work with repeater/mesh networks. While Wi-Fi and Digital Radio have comparable pricing, Digital offers a greater range. Our High Bandwidth Smart Radios provide the best range and capabilities.
Installation of High Gain antennas on the robot and/or the remote can extend the range.
Transmission Types
Wi-Fi
Our base transmission type. Wi-Fi has been around for a long time now and is an easy and cost-effective way of controlling a robot. Our Wi-Fi control system is compatible with all available remote options. This is a versatile, low cost, and low power option that can function on most platforms. The Wi-Fi system works best in areas with minimal obstruction between the OCU and the robot.
Digital Radio System
Digital Radios are our most popular system and offer excellent performance. These radios offer the range and signal integrity of our analog systems. They are able to maintain stable network communication over long ranges. The digital system also allows for the easy setup of a mesh network for your robot. All these features mean that you can extend your operating range even further!
High Bandwidth Smart Radios
The High Bandwidth Smart Radio is our ultimate tactical communication solution. It combines the range of our Digital Radio with the ability to deliver a clear HD video feed. Optimized channels allow for excellent control, audio, and video transmission. Smart firmware even sets priorities for control, ensuring your robots smooth operation.

Repeater & Secondary Monitoring Stations
Need to increase your operating range? Want to provide “eyes and ears” to more operators? Our repeaters and secondary monitoring stations allow you to expand your operation! These compact systems are compatible with all SuperDroid Tactical Digital Radio systems! Our secondary monitoring station displays the camera feed for other teams to view. These stations also double as signal repeaters. These are excellent if you have several entry teams or for investigating large areas. Custom repeaters are available on request.
