Description:

This is our Heavy Duty ATR Chassis for 52mm motors. It is an extremely rugged well built robot. It has the ability to drive around with very heavy loads. Look at our ATR building page and follow the various links to learn more about the robots size and capacity. The wheels are axle mounted and supported using two sealed ball bearings.

Each of the four axles are driven by a large and powerful IG52 Gear motor via a roller chain to yield a very smooth and slip free mode of operation. This robot is designed for loads greater upto 150lbs. For loads greater than 50lbs you need to go with lower gear ratio motors. The biggest issue with weight is pivot turns on carpet and grass takes a great deal of torque to skid steer. See our ATR page for more details.

This is the chassis, bearings, sprockets, chain, and hardware only, for the wheels, motors, etc. see our wheeled robot kits.

If you want to implement speed control or keep track of the wheels movement/distance travelled, you can also select gear motors with encoders.

There are slots in the side panels that allow easy assembly of the motor and chains and adjustment of the chain tension. The motors and transmission allow this robot to climb walls.

The frame is made of 1/8" thick aircraft grade aluminum. The design uses all CNC cut parts with mortise and tenon design for precise alignment and mating of the parts. The chassis is completely welding using TIG and MIG. All the necessary hardware, bearings, chains, sprockets, etc are provided as part of the chassis. The chains provide a 14:21 reduction motor to wheel shaft.
