This is a compact prebuilt robot that utilizes three omni-wheels to vector it in any direction. By changing the speeds and directions of the motors the robot can drive in any direction without needing to turn. This makes it very useful for navigating around the house. It works on any indoor surface or outdoors in short grass, pavement, concrete, etc.
This kit is the same as our popular tri-wheel robot kit with the addition of the following: This Tri-Wheel Omni Robot has three(3) sweeping IR sensors mounted on servo standoff hardware kits. The sensors and batteries are mounted on an upper deck Triangular base with all thread spacers. Two 12V 1500 mAHr batteries are used in series to power the motors and one 9.6V battery is used to power the OOPic-R. The OOPic-R controls the sensors, servos, and motors to drive the robot around looking for the best path while avoiding obstacles.

This was a demonstration robot which built a couple years ago and has not been used much except for show and tell. We will ensure the batteries are fully charged and everything functions prior to shipping. The batteries may need to be replaced before long since they are a couple years old. You will also need a charger, we recommend this field charger, which requires a 12V supply: AstroFlight 110 Deluxe Charger/Discharger - TE-073-000.
We never got around to finishing the program on this robot. We have a basic program that drives the robot in any vector heading that will be included with the kit. We will also provide a Trekker CD with all the example programs and OOPic Program.
