Introduction to Robotis Dynamixel Servos

Dynamixel servos are some of the most advanced actuators on the market. Designed and produced by Robotis, we offer a range of Dynamixel servos with varriying levels of torque, speed and controls. These are not your standard hobby servos. Dynamixel servos use high quality Maxon motors and are controled with a powerful ARM based microcontroller to manage and monitor temperature, position, current, voltage, anything you could need! They are also controlled over a single bus that allows several servos to be daisy chained together.

Dynamixel Servo Applications

Dynamixel servos have a wide range of practical applications. For a recent custom engineering project it was required to engineer an apparatus to raise and lower chalk in order to make markings. The dynamixel servo was perfect for this. Not only due to the ease of use but also the level of feedback that the servo provides. We were able to configure the torque and monitor position and current to not only move the chalk into position but also know when the chalk has run out. This was greatly useful to be able to notify the operator when fresh chalk was needed.
