Description:

This is a customized RC rock crawler that been modified to house a wireless color infra red camera on a 360 degree pan and tilt system. The robot provides a low cost platform that is ready to run complete with the vehicle, remote, and video system providing a quickly deployable surveillance robot that can navigate may different difficult terrains. Included:

  • 4WD robot chassis with integrated pan and tilt camera system.
  • 4 Wheel steering for improved maneuverability.
  • Geared low for ~6mph high torque drive train with 4 wheel independent suspension (rock crawler style chassis). Speed is infinitely adjustable/controllable.
  • Two (2) powerful gear motors for driving and two (2) powerful servos for steering front and back axles.
  • Pan and Tilt System. 360+ degrees of rotation/pan and ~110 degrees of tilt. Integrated 7LED IR color camera. Optional LED flood lights can be mounted to pan and tilt and remotely operated.
  • Standard removable 2000mAhr 7.2V NiCad Pack for drive. Run time 0.5 to 2 hours depending on use. Upgraded/Spare 4700mAhr NiMH 7.3V pack available for 2x run time.
  • 11.1VDC 1800mAhr Li-Ion video power battery. Run time 3-4 hours continuous use
  • Total weight of fully assembled robot: ~12lbs
  • Total height (floor to top of roll cage): ~13 inches

    • 2.4GHz frequency spectrum control system (searches for best most reliable channel)

    • Tested urban range approximately 500 feet (effective operation range for video and control with multiple building structures, wireless interference, etc. Concrete and steel walls will reduce range further)
    • Tested rural line of site range approximately 1000 feet
    • Color LCD for viewing video
    • Full range of speed control for drive motors.
    • Steering Control for 4 wheel steering.
    • Position control of camera pan and tilt
    • Extra channel(s) for lights or other custom options.
    • Includes rechargeable batteries for control console and video

As pictured the Crawler has the optional paint, and remote LED lights.

  • Yagi Antenna: The Yagi Antenna is attached to the video receiver for better video reception. A mount is provided so it can be mounted to the handheld remote and/or it can be used with extra video receivers.
  • LED Lights: LED lights can be added to the pan and tilt system that can be remotely used to illuminate dark areas. The IR camera can see in total darkness up to 6m distance, the LED lights provide longer range viewing
  • Paint: The aluminum chassis cover and pan and tilt can be painted with a tough bed liner coating if desired.
  • Extra Video Receiver: An extra video receiver can be included. This option will allow other users to view operations. The video receiver must be within wireless range of the Crawler.
  • Spare Batteries: Spare batteries can be purchased with the robot
  • Upgrade to Fail Safe AR9000 Receiver and DX6i Package: This option provides longer range control (2.4GHz by using a long range high grade AR9000 receiver with the DX6i radio.
  • Upgrade 2.5" LCD Receiver to include SD card: This option upgrades the standard 2.5” LCD to include a SD compatible receiver so the Crawlers video feed can be recorded.
  • Upgrade to handheld remote with 7 inch LCD. Discussed above
