The LCD Shield I2C is an excellent option for projects ,it is cheap and has a great user interface . Using readily available libraries and all the versatility of PCF8574, this shield uses a few pins of Arduino to offer an LCD with backlight and contrast control by software with 5 configurable buttons and 1 RESET button.
