Documentation and Support
This a high quality 3 axis joystick with a rubber boot. Spring return to center (X and Y springs can be removed). Each Axis is attached to a 5k ohm linear potentiometer. The potentiometers mounted on the gimbals are adjustable to adjust the center point. The joysticks move 50 degrees in each direction and utilize the full range of 5K ohm potentiomenter for maximum sensitivity. The 3rd axis is a twist knob with a spring return to center potentiometer.
The potentiometer travels full range ~0k to ~5k with full travel of joystick with ~2.5k in the center. (If you hook ground to one leg, 5V to the other leg, you will get a 0-5V analog output on the middle sweeper arm, with 2.5V in the center position.)
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO METER THE POTENTIOMETERS WITH A OHM METER BEFORE JUST HOOKING UP VOLTAGE. IF HOOKED UP WRONG, THEY WILL BE DAMAGED.
(Typically, the 3rd axis uses the black wire as the sweeper. Red and White are typically the two sides of the pot. Measuring the resistance between them determines this. Its 5K ohms between the Red and White. 2.5K from black to either side and as you turn the knob it varies.)
Includes flexible rubber boot and flange with mounting screws as shown in picture. See PDF Drawing for mounting details.
