The Ultrasonic & IR Scanner package is the combination of the SuperDroid Trekker sweeping Ultrasonic detector and the sweeping IR detector. Both sensors are mounted on a common servo and bracket. With both sensors virtually everything can be seen!

The sensors are mounted to a servo that mounts to the front of the Trekker chassis with the front scanner bracket. It can also be mounted to the top of the Trekker chassis with the single or dual top scanner bracket. The servo can be programmed to scan at any angle from -90 to +90 degrees (0 degrees being straight forward). This gives the Trekker (or your own robot) a set of eyes. The Ultrasonic and IR detector will detect obstacles and cause the robot to stop, the servo can then look in either direction for a preferred way around the obstacle.

The IR detector is a Sharp GP2D12 IR. The IR detector will detect a obstacle and cause the robot to stop. The IR detector can detect objects from 4 inches to 30 inches away. This sensor package will plug directly into any of the three Trekker OOPic II Expansion Board or the OOPic-R Expansion Board IR sensor headers.

The Ultrasonic detector is a Devantech SRF04 or SRF08 Ultrasonic ranger. The SRF04 Ultrasonic detector can detect from ~4 inches to ~10 feet. This sensor package will plug directly into any of the three Trekker OOPic II Expansion Board or the OOPic-R Expansion Board ultrasonic sensor headers. The SRF08 ultrasonic sensor can detect from ~4" to ~30 feet. This sensor package will plug into the 4 pin header on the Trekker OOPic II Expansion Board or the 5 pin programming header on the OOPic II/II+ or OOPic-R.
